Victoria has recorded one new COVID-19 case in addition to two others announced late yesterday.
There were 24,470 test results received yesterday, and 14,384 doses of vaccine were administered at state-run sites.
Two people tested positive yesterday after returning from New South Wales on red zone permits.
A third member of the household of four has also tested positive, Premier Daniel Andrews said.
“We’re very confident we’ve got our arms around that and those people are in iso and they’ve been doing the right thing ,” he told 3AW Radio.
“We’ll be able to manage that. There will be some exposure sites. I’d ask people to have a look.”
One of the cases is listed as being acquired interstate.
There are currently 20 active cases in Victoria.
Yesterday, the Victorian government also revealed two removalists from Sydney had tested positive after returning to New South Wales.
They were in Victoria on July 8 and 9, and residents at an apartment building they visited in Maribyrnong are now isolating for 14 days.
“That will be really very inconvenient for the people who live there but we can’t take any risks with this Delta variant. It’s very, very infectious,” Mr Andrews said.
“Out of an abundance of caution that complex will be locked down.”
A letter from health officials was sent to the residents of the apartment complex, explaining that anyone in the building at the same time as the infected movers must quarantine for two weeks.
It is a tier one exposure site.
Those who were in the building in the following days, must get tested and isolate until they get a negative result.
Other tier one exposure sites include Coles at Craigieburn Central, in Melbourne’s north, and a petrol station and fast food restaurant on the Western Freeway at Ballan.
Surreal to be in lockdown – resident
Cherryll Scott lives in the building and is worried because she touched the furniture being moved while it was in a lift.
“It’s a little bit surreal and a little bit scary because I have been in and out of the lifts and in the foyer,” she said.
She is annoyed that she can’t go out.
“I was at my daughter’s on the weekend and now they have to go get tested,” she told the ABC.
“I’m thinking do I have enough supplies?
“I can only go out to get tested. I’ve got a really sore back at the moment and I can’t go to my chiropractor.”
