Περισσότερα από 60 κρούσματα της παραλλαγής Όμικρον επιβεβαιώθηκαν σήμερα στη Βικτώρια ενώ στην ΝΝΟ σταμάτησαν πλέον την καταμέτρησή τους.
Ο επικεφαλής της Βικτωριανής Ομάδας Κρούσης κατά της πανδημίας κ. Jeroen Weimar ανακοίνωσε τα εν λόγω νούμερα νωρίτερα, επισημαίνοντας ότι όλα βρίσκονται σε απομόνωση.
Υπενθυμίζουμε ότι τη Δευτέρα είχαν εντοπισθεί 37 κρούσματα της Όμικρον ενώ χθες δεν βρέθηκε κανένα.
Συνολικά, κατά το τελευταίο 24ωρο εντοπίσθηκαν 1503 νέα κρούσματα στη Βικτώρια και δυστυχώς 6 περαιτέρω θάνατοι.
Στη ΝΝΟ έχουν εντοπισθεί συνολικά 313 κρούσματα της Όμικρον, ωστόσο οι εκεί Αρχές ανακοίνωσαν πως από δω και στο εξής θα προχωρούν σε διευκρίνηση της μετάλλαξης του ιού μόνο όταν κρίνεται αναγκαία για την κλινική φροντίδα του ασθενή.
Εν τω μεταξύ η αυξανόμενη πίεση στο Βικτωριανό σύστημα υγείας, λόγω της αύξησης των κρουσμάτων της Όμικρον οδηγεί τις Αρχές στο να «στρατολογήσουν» εναλλακτικούς εργασιακούς χώρους για την χορήγηση των αναμνηστικών τρίτων δόσεων.
19 κέντρα χορήγησης των εν λόγω δόσεων είναι πλέον διαθέσιμα και περισσότερα αναμένεται να ανοίξουν τον προσεχή Ιανουάριο με την προσθήκη Ιατρείων και Φαρμακείων στην «μάχη» της τρίτης δόσης.

Victoria now has more than 60 confirmed cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, while NSW has stopped counting.
The state’s COVID-19 commander Jeroen Weimar just announced the cases, saying they are all in isolation.
The number is up from 37 cases in total on Monday, after Victoria recorded no new cases of the Omicron variant on Tuesday.
Mr Weimar said more than 350,000 Victorians have now received their booster vaccine doses, and a further one million Victorians would become eligible for the booster now if the interval between second and third doses was shortened from five months to four.
Victoria recorded a total of 1503 new COVID-19 cases today and six deaths.
NSW has confirmed 313 cases of the Omicron variant in the state to date, but NSW Health advised on Sunday that the majority of the 2,566 cases reported that day were likely to be that variant.
“With the high number of COVID-19 cases now in NSW, NSW Health will only undertake genomic sequencing for the Omicron variant in the circumstances where it will make a clinical difference to the care of a patient,” the ministry said on Sunday.
Victoria’s health system is under pressure amid the rise in the highly transmissible Omicron coronavirus variant and is bringing in “alternative workforces” to help administer the COVID-19 booster vaccine program.
COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar said there were 19 state-run hubs that could currently administer booster shots, and authorities would announce more reopening in early January.
Furthermore, he called upon GPs and pharmacists “to do their bit” and administer booster shots as well.
