The largest Greek flag – 1,500 square meters – is to be raised in Santorini on March 25 to commemorate 25 years since the War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire.
A group of people from Santorini, led by Giannis Sykiniotis, raised money to put their idea into practice and are now making final preparations.
In the most central part of the island, the huge Greek flag will wave.
The plan stipulates that with the help of a large crane, the flag will fly at a height of 50 meters, while at the same time French Rafale fighters will fly over the island.
