Victoria has recorded four new locally-acquired cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
All of today’s cases were in quarantine for the entirety of their infectious period and are linked to the current outbreak.
One new case has also been diagnosed inside hotel quarantine, with more than 22,000 people tested during the most recent reporting period
The numbers come as Victoria desperately tries to avoid the spread of the Delta variant, tightening its border with NSW even further as of midnight tonight.
Residents in the Victorian-NSW border bubble will only be able to enter Victoria without a permit for six essential reasons from 11:59pm tonight.
They include medical care, compassionate reasons, work, education, playing sport or getting vaccinated.
Health Minister Martin Foley said the step was necessary and keeping the virus out of Victoria.
“We really need to take steps in that border bubble area that keep us all safe,” he said.
“We know that will have an impact on many border residents but we also know that an outbreak of the Delta variant on our doorstep will have an even more negative impact on our border communities.”
