Victoria has recorded no new local COVID cases beyond the two positive results announced yesterday that were linked to the Sydney outbreak.
There were 21,991 test results received yesterday, and 18,019 doses of vaccine were administered at state-run sites.
A Melbourne man in his 60s tested positive yesterday after returning from Sydney on the weekend, and his co-worker at the Sandringham Dry Cleaners has also tested positive.
Today’s official numbers from Victorian authorities list those two cases.
The dry cleaning business has been listed as a Tier 1 exposure site for June 21 to June 23.
Public transport services used by the man from Melbourne Airport to Oakleigh have also been added to the list of exposure sites, along with Flinders Street, Broadmeadows and Oakleigh train stations.
The Oakleigh man developed symptoms on Tuesday evening, was tested immediately on Wednesday and returned the positive result on Thursday morning.
He is currently feeling unwell and his primary contacts are being contacted and tested.
Health Minister Martin Foley said he “fortunately” lived alone. However, he lives within an apartment complex and a risk assessment is currently being undertaken by public health officials.
Genomic sequencing is not yet completed, but he is being treated as if he has the highly infectious Delta variant of the virus currently spreading in Sydney.
There is no suggestion he breached any border controls, Mr Foley said, and he praised the man for getting tested after developing symptoms.
