Victoria is coming out of lockdown but some restrictions will remain for residents.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the five reasons to leave home will be scrapped, along with the five kilometre travel rule, but Victorians still can’t visit family or friends’ homes.

Additional border restrictions are also being imposed, with more to be announced.

From 11.59 tonight, the following rules will apply across the state for the next two weeks.

Can I leave home?

The “five reasons to leave home” rule has been lifted.

People can now leave their home for any reason.

The five kilometre travel limit has also been removed.
However, thousands of Victorians who remain in isolation as close contacts are required to complete their 14 days quarantine.

Can I visit friends or family?

Public gatherings are permitted with a maximum of 10 people so you can catch up with others outside.

Infants under 12 months of age are not included in that cap.

Gatherings at another household are still not allowed so you won’t be able to have dinner with groups who don’t live with you.

Mr Andrews said this is as homes are still a high risk location for transmission.

People can travel, but can only book accommodation with their household, intimate partner, or single-bubble person.

What about weddings and funerals?

Weddings and funerals are permitted a maximum of 50 people.

However, Mr Andrews said that cap would not include the people who conducted the ceremony.

Can my kids go back to school? Please?

In-person learning will re-open for all year levels from tomorrow, so students can go back to school.
How about the office?

Victoria’s authorised worker list is being scrapped, so all businesses and venues can reopen, though under the four-square metre rule.

People who can work from home are still ordered to.

However, offices are reopening with limits of up to 25 percent or 10 people, whichever is greater.

Are gyms, bars, and hairdressers opening?

Live music venues, dance classes and gyms will all open under the four-square-metre rule.
Restaurants and cafes can re-open for seated service only.
Retail, and beauty and personal care, will open under the four-square-metre rule, along with entertainment and community venues.

What are the mask rules?

Masks will be required everywhere indoors and outdoors, except for private residences.

Can I visit the ski fields?

Keeping in mind the accommodation booking limits, you can, but other restrictions apply.
Entry to alpine resorts will require a COVID-19 test and a negative result within 72 hours before visiting.
Children under 12 are exempt.

What are the new border restrictions?

The new freedoms come at a cost for “border bubble” residents.
The Wagga Wagga, Hay, Lockhart and Murrumbidgee local government areas will from 11.59pm no longer be included in that bubble.

People in those areas, like the rest of New South Wales residents, will need to apply for an exemption to cross the border.
