Victoria’s run of COVID-19 community transmission-free days has come to an end after a Melbourne man tested positive to the virus. The man is understood to have tested positive after undergoing hotel quarantine in Perth.

He was declared a close contact after quarantining in a room adjacent to a positive case in Perth.

He tested positive this morning and has been taken back into quarantine.

He arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday, where he was advised he had roomed next to a positive COVID-19 case.”He was picked up at the airport by his spouse and returned directly home to his residential location in the eastern suburbs where he lives with three household contacts, his spouse and two children,” Health Minister Martin Foley said.

He tested positive this morning and has been taken back into quarantine. His family will now also isolate for the next 14 days, as contact tracers try to determine who else might have come into contact with the man.Passengers who arrived in Melbourne on April 21 on QF778 will also need to isolate for 14 days and be tested.”He has done the right thing. He’s cooperating with our public health team,” Mr Foley said.
