NUGAS: “Greece, simply just Greece!”

12 February, 2020

Greece, simply just Greece!! “Σαν την Ελλάδα δεν υπάρχει”.

Our homeland, what an amazing country to visit.

On the 23rd June 2019, I departed alongside my mum to Greece. There was truly plenty of excitement leading into departing for Greece. For the first time, we flew directly to Thessaloniki via Doha. I also managed to visit other European countries such as Spain, Portugal and the UK which were all amazing.

My time in Greece was predominantly spent on the mainland, in particular Northern Greece. My family’s origin is Kastoria and Florina. Visiting their villages is always a touching moment for me. Visiting friends and family all over Greece was also amazing considering that I had not seen them since the previous time that I went which was in 2017.

Seeing friends along the way made my trip complete. There is nothing like the lifestyle, mannerism of Greeks, gestures and the φιλοτιμία. I truly came to realise the difference in social skills in Greece. Accompanied with the Mediterranean Climate, “είναι το κάτι άλλο”.

The highlight of my trip this time around was attending my first ever wedding in Greece. It was close to Posidi, Halikidi (Ποσείδι, Χαλκιδικής). The beaches there were something that you cannot compare with anywhere here in Australia.
The islands are amazing, but I did not overly go to many islands last time around. People were telling me that there is plenty to discover on the mainland and that the mainland is just as beautiful as the islands themselves. These are just a few reasons as to why I love Greece and you should too.
