Two Greek nationals to be evacuated from quarantined “Diamond Princess” cruise ship

18 February, 2020

Greece’s Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias said on Sunday that Greece will soon evacuate the two Greek nationals who are on board of the ”Diamond Princess” cruise ship, which has been quarantined by the Japanese authorities due to Coronavirus cases.

In an interview with Greece’s SKAI TV, Kikilias said that ”We are already coordinating and organising the repatriation of these two Greeks possibly for next week, in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and all relevant agencies.”

Currently, there are 3,500 people on board of the cruise ship, of which only 355 have been diagnosed with the Covid-19 type of coronavirus.

The Health Minister did not reveal any other details about the operation, however he reassured that ”Anyone of our citizens who needs us anywhere in the world will be repatriated, in a proper, structured, and organised way.”
