New search for missing Samantha Murphy: Hopes and discoveries

11 April, 2024

A new phase in the search for missing mother Samantha Murphy began today in Victoria, with the focus on the Enfield State Park area. Murphy, 51, disappeared from her home in Ballarat East in February and there has been no news of her whereabouts since.

Police said today’s search was focused on an area identified from information received from a number of sources. A police spokesman said a significant number of detectives and officers from various areas were involved.

Since Samantha Murphy’s disappearance almost two months ago, police have carried out extensive searches in the Ballarat area, including large scale and targeted searches. Assistant Commissioner Mark Hutt said police were committed to solving the case and returning Murphy’s body to her family.

In connection with the case, 22-year-old Patrick Orren Stephenson was charged with Murphy’s murder in March, but the search for her body continues.

It is important to note that the public is being asked not to participate in the search in Enfield State Park.

As the investigation continues, new developments in the case are expected to emerge, providing answers to a case that has shocked the local community.

The case is ongoing.
