Turkey attacks Syria and continues the Genocide of Greeks

2 December, 2024

Turkey attacks Syria and continues the Genocide of Greeks. Turkey is again committing genocide against the Greek populations of Syria, after having slaughtered and cleansed them between 1914 and 1922. The Greek government is passively watching without making any statement or taking any action.

In a surprise attack against Syrian government forces, Turkish-affiliated jihadists have invaded Aleppo, the country’s second-largest city. As we read, in just 3 days, they have taken control of dozens of towns and villages in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib. An operation that analysts say has been in the works for many months. Thousands of residents are fleeing the area. Christians, Alevis, and Shiites are at risk of a new genocide.

It seems that Turkey is trying to take advantage of the situation in Lebanon and Palestine and the fact that Syria has been left virtually unprotected. The Russian military presence in the country has been reduced as Russia has focused on Ukraine. The Iranian-backed militias, as well as Hezbollah, have been weakened amid the escalating confrontation with Israel. And US attention seems to be focused on the political transition from Biden to Trump. Turkey has also invaded and retained significant areas in the north of the country under the pretext of ousting ISIS militants and Kurdish forces.

What can the occupation of the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib by forces aligned with Turkey have to do with Turkey’s military operations in Syria and Iraq over the years, the invasion of Cyprus and Libya, the claims by Albania-Skopje against Greece, and the “Blue Homeland” ideology in Turkey’s schools with which it challenges the sovereignty of the Greek Aegean islands?

Coincidentally, it is all in the draft of the “Turkish National Oath” (Misak-ı Millî), i.e. the declaration passed by the last Ottoman parliament after the defeat in World War I in 1920, to regain control either directly or indirectly of the territories around Turkey that were under the Ottoman Empire’s possession. These territories include Cyprus, the East Aegean islands, Western Thrace, even Thessaloniki (!!!), and, by a diabolical coincidence, the areas of Aleppo, Mosul, Kirkuk, and Armenia.

Turkey is covertly and cunningly building the new Ottoman empire, expanding directly or indirectly sovereignty, either through military invasion (as in Cyprus, Syria, Armenia, and Libya) or through economic, defensive, political, and cultural penetration (as in the Balkans and Africa).

If these considerations are valid, it is to be expected that, in the period between the US elections and Trump’s assumption of the presidency on 20 January 2025, Turkey will attempt to create new geopolitical realities in Syria. These developments directly affect the future of Hellenism. The government must take a stand.
