PRONIA’s new CEO visit to the Hellenic Museum and GMG facilities

On Thursday, February 20th, PRONIA’s newly appointed CEO, Mrs. Sylvia Chatziantoniou, visited the Hellenic Museum of Melbourne and the Greek Media Group (GMG – 3XY Radio Hellas and the newspaper TA NEA“). The visit marked her first official meeting with the organization, where she was warmly welcomed by GMG’s General Manager, Mr. Spyros Alatsas.

During the visit, Mr. Alatsas took Mrs. Chatzianthoniou on a tour of the museum’s exhibitions. Mrs. Chatzianthoniou expressed her admiration and pride for the presence of such a significant cultural institution in the heart of Melbourne. She emphasized the importance of the museum, housed in the iconic building of the former Australian Mint, as a key promoter of Greek culture and the historical heritage of the Greek community, far from Greece’s shores.

Following the museum visit, Mr. Alatsas hosted Mrs. Chatziantoniou at GMG’s facilities, where they discussed the prospects and challenges facing the Greek community, with a special focus on the needs of the elderly and vulnerable groups supported by PRONIA. Mrs. Chatziantoniou, who took over the leadership of PRONIA six months ago, brought a wealth of experience in managing sectors such as healthcare, education, and social infrastructure. With a vision to improve the quality of life for the Greek diaspora, she highlighted PRONIA’s plans to focus on mental health issues, domestic violence, and support for the elderly. A major priority for the organization will be the upcoming changes in elder care legislation, which are set to take effect later this year.

“Communication with all relevant stakeholders, partners, and government bodies is ongoing, with the goal of building strong, trusting relationships”, Mrs. Chatziantoniou said. This collaboration aims to create a broader support framework that enhances the effectiveness of the organization’s actions.

At the conclusion of the visit, Mr. Alatsas reaffirmed GMG’s long-standing support for PRONIA, a partnership that spans 30 years. He committed to continuing the group’s efforts to promote and support every new initiative undertaken by PRONIA.

Our group and the Stamoulis family extend their warmest wishes to Mrs. Chatziantoniou for success and strength in the challenging and vital work she has taken on for the benefit of Melbourne’s broader Greek community.
