Funeral director Andreas Tziotzis targeted in brazen home invasion

5 March, 2025

Prominent funeral director Andreas Tziotzis fell victim to a shocking home invasion after armed intruders broke into his Clayton residence while his family slept.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when two masked individuals, armed with large knives, entered the property through an unlocked front door. Security footage captured the assailants as they moved through the home, seizing valuables before fleeing the scene.

Tziotzis, the director of Pan Orthodox Funerals, had briefly stepped outside for a cigarette and unknowingly left the door unsecured. The burglars took over $5,000 in cash, his wallet containing multiple credit cards, and his company-branded vehicle.

“Despite everything, we were lucky. If I had confronted them, who knows how things could have ended,” Tziotzis said in an interview.

Shortly after the break-in, the stolen vehicle was spotted at a petrol station, where security cameras recorded at least four individuals using one of the stolen credit cards to refuel.

Authorities are investigating the incident as part of a wider surge in violent home invasions across Victoria. Concerned residents have expressed growing frustration over repeat offenders taking advantage of the current legal system.

The state government has acknowledged that existing bail laws are failing to deter crime and has launched a review to address the escalating situation. However, many in the community remain sceptical about whether policy changes will come soon enough to restore public safety.

Meanwhile, police are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the burglary. Tziotzis remains hopeful that justice will be served.
