Greek MEP: 7000 Christians and Alawites massacred in Syria

11 March, 2025

BREAKING Greek MEP: 7000 Christians and Alawites have been massacred in Syria according to Nikolas Farantouris. He is a member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Security & Defense, who visited Damascus on 8-9 March.

The statement of MEP @NFarantouris: “As a member of the Security and Defense Committee, the Constitutional Affairs Committee, and the Budgets Committee of the European Parliament, I paid a two-day visit to Damascus on 8-9 March at the invitation of the Patriarch. “On Sunday (of Orthodoxy), I attended the service in the Patriarchal Church together with [Greek Orthodox] Patriarch John X of Antioch. We had a long private meeting on the developments. I then met with representatives of national and religious communities, while I also visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the new regime and spoke with the heads of International and European Affairs.

Reliable data indicate 7,000 Christians and Alawites slaughtered and unprecedented atrocities against civilians. Christian and other communities with a millennial presence in this region are at risk of extinction. “The new Islamic regime is leading Syria into an Islamic state and is claiming that it cannot control the paramilitaries and the gangs associated with them who attack innocent civilians. “Patriarch John X made a shocking appeal yesterday, Orthodox Sunday, to stop the bloodshed, while in our private meeting, he pointed out the tragic shortages of food and medicine that Christians are facing.

“I call on the Greek Government and the governments of [EU] Member States, to act NOW. Neither Greece nor the EU can continue to show tolerance and be limited to ceremonial visits and courtesies with the Islamic regime for investments and ‘business’ while thousands of civilians are being slaughtered with its acquiescence if not its guidance. Measures must be taken here and now before it is entirely too late.”

Meanwhile, in further developments, Tomasz Froelich says, that after taking power in Syria, Muhammad al-Jolani was celebrated by the globalists. In the past days, his regime murdered hundreds or even thousands of Alawites. Christians are also persecuted. I predicted this exactly in my speech in the EU Parliament three months ago, while in the meantime the German government has donated 60 million euros of German taxpayers’ money to the new rulers in Damascus. Meanwhile, the EU is backing the Islamist terror regime, which is slaughtering Alawites and Christians in full view of the world. “Value-based foreign policy” at work – pure hypocrisy! I pray for the Alawites and Christians in Syria.

The Greek Foreign Ministry tweets about the situation in Syria and gets the community noted on Twitter for misinformation by misrepresenting the situation in Syria.

This previous statement triggered the largest social media backlash the Greek Foreign Ministry has ever faced. While this statement does identify the victims—unlike the previous one—it still fails to name the perpetrator.

The Greek Foreign Ministry has condemned the “atrocities inflicted on innocent civilians, including Christians and Alawites.” This statement, unlike the previous one, actually identifies the victims, yet it still fails to name the perpetrators. The previous statement had already provoked the biggest social media backlash the Greek Foreign Ministry had ever faced, and this latest attempt does little to rectify the situation.

The statement reads:

“As the situation unfolds in Syria, we condemn the atrocities inflicted on innocent civilians, including Christians and Alawites. We expect the interim authorities to take all necessary measures to stop the violence, protect all civilians, bring the perpetrators of these atrocities to justice, and meet the expectations of all Syrians without discrimination.

Greece remains firmly committed to supporting Syria’s recovery and prosperity by helping to build strong and representative institutions that will integrate all Syrians and ensure that ethnic and religious communities—including Christians, Alawites, Druze, and Kurds—are fully included in the political process and can live without fear.

Greece continues to closely monitor the situation in Syria and welcomes steps towards de-escalation and national reconciliation.”*

While this statement gestures towards inclusivity and stability, it still avoids explicitly addressing the forces responsible for the atrocities.

Marko Rubio: The United States condemns the radical Islamist terrorists, including foreign jihadis, that murdered people in western Syria in recent days. The United States stands with Syria’s religious and ethnic minorities, including its Christian, Druze, Alawite, and Kurdish communities, and offers its condolences to the victims and their families. Syria’s interim authorities must hold the perpetrators of these massacres against Syria’s minority communities accountable.

The absurd reactions from the EU headed by EU President Ursula von der Leyen.

Everything you need to know about Europe. Al-Julani is a terrorist, sadistic, head-chopping, psychopathic mass murderer that the EU invited on a visit to give him money, and on the other hand, Calin Georgescu is the democratically elected president of Romania whom the EU banned from election. The EU has no moral compass anymore. EU Commission invited HTS leader Al-Julani to a donor conference in Brussels on March 17 while he slaughtered thousands of civilians including many women and children in the last couple of days.
