Emmanouil Karalis put in an outstanding performance at the Ostrava meeting, taking second place in the pole vault with a best attempt of 5.92 metres. Emmanouil Karalis: Second with a jump of 5.92m at the Ostrava meeting, a performance that confirms his excellent form ahead of the European Team Championships in Madrid.


The Greek pole vaulter started the competition with a failed attempt at 5.62m, but cleared that height on his second attempt and then decided to skip 5.72m to try 5.82m straight away. It took him three attempts, but he finally succeeded in impressive fashion.


The bronze Olympic pole vault champion’s rise continued successfully at 5.92m, which he cleared on his first attempt, showing exceptional stability and composure. Karalis attempted to clear 6.02m, but was unable to do so.


Despite his failed attempts at 6.02m, his overall performance in Ostrava confirms that he is in excellent competitive form and has his sights set on his upcoming commitments with the national team.
In first place was Mondo Duplantis, who set a competition record with 6.13m.
