Irene Mourtzoukou to testify today over four child murders – Dozens of notes and new attempted murder allegations

13 July, 2025

Today, Sunday, July 13, Irene Mourtzoukou is scheduled to appear before the Patras investigating magistrate to testify in connection with the chilling case of four child murders — a case she has already confessed to.

Yesterday, Saturday, she spent her last hours before testifying at the 11th floor of the Homicide Division. She has not been moved to a detention cell and, according to reports, remains extremely calm, seemingly detached from the severity of her actions. Officers say she slept until midday and has made no requests during her detention.

Dozens of handwritten notes – Her defense strategy remains unclear

So far, her defense strategy remains a mystery. Yesterday, her lawyer and his associate met with her. According to MEGA Channel, she handed over dozens of handwritten notes, which are expected to play a crucial role in shaping her official testimony.

Mourtzoukou, now 25, has confessed to killing her infant sister at age 14, her two own children, and the baby of a friend. However, she continues to deny any involvement in the death of young Panagiotis, who died while under her supervision just minutes after a heated argument with the child’s mother.

New allegations of attempted murders – Possibly outside Greece

Investigators are reportedly expanding the scope of their investigation after receiving additional complaints of attempted infant killings — not only within Greece but potentially abroad as well. Authorities are now trying to determine if Mourtzoukou could be linked to other deaths previously considered to be from natural causes.

Victims’ mothers speak out

In a powerful interview on the show “Fos sto Tounel”, Katerina — the mother of one of the babies Mourtzoukou confessed to killing — described the murder as cruel and calculated. “She treated our babies like dolls,” she said. “I wish there was still the electric chair for her.”

Also speaking on the show was Popi, the mother of Panagiotis. Mourtzoukou has not yet confessed to his murder. “She will confess — whether she wants to or not,” she said. “I have one child left. I stayed silent for too long.”

Forensic report expected soon on Panagiotis

In the coming days, forensic experts are expected to deliver a report on the cause of Panagiotis’s death. This development may shift Mourtzoukou’s stance — with some reports suggesting she may attempt to implicate others in the case.
