Zoe Konstantopoulou attacks Alexis Tsipras: “What he misses is the money of power”

29 August, 2025

Zoe Konstantopoulou, president of the Freedom Movement (Plevsi Eleftherias), launched a sharp attack on former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, criticizing his political and personal ambitions.

Speaking on Open TV, Konstantopoulou claimed that Tsipras’ desire to return to the political scene is not driven by a commitment to politics itself but by personal and financial exploitation of power: “When he says he misses politics, he means he misses the money of power,” she stated.

Commenting on Tsipras’ interview with the French newspaper Le Monde, she noted that he has been absent from Parliament for over two years, without giving any speeches, while continuing to receive his allowances. She also humorously suggested that a potential new party by Tsipras could be called “The Burrow.”

Konstantopoulou provided a critical review of Tsipras’ tenure, highlighting issues such as the violation of the referendum, the imposition of the third bailout, the suppression of political opponents, and the tragic Mati fire that caused 104 deaths. She further warned that the OPEKEPE scandal could lead to early elections within 2025 and criticized Prime Minister Mitsotakis’ government for tightly controlling parliamentary activity and limiting the autonomy of ND lawmakers.

She emphasized that parliamentary procedures are suffering as the House remains largely empty, and warned that any attempt to change the electoral law would fail electorally. Her statements underline the rising tensions in the Greek political landscape and signal close attention to Tsipras’ next moves.
