Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressed a luncheon organized by 28 Greek-Australian organizations, highlighting the progress of the Greek economy and the return of young Greeks from abroad.
Mitsotakis described it as a “privilege” to speak to the diaspora and emphasized that “Athens is now flourishing.” He referred to a Wall Street Journal event, underlining that Greece has firmly returned as a key economic hub in Europe.
He presented economic data: growth double that of the Eurozone, borrowing costs lower than France, over €30 billion in foreign direct investment, and record tourism, while Greece attracts investments in renewables, logistics, and services.
Mitsotakis highlighted the creation of private non-profit universities and the internationalization of public universities, making Greece an educational hub.
He noted the return of Greeks from abroad, particularly in the tech sector, and announced a December U.S. event to attract Greek talent.
The Prime Minister emphasized strong Greek-American relations, trust from U.S. companies such as Chevron and Exxon Mobil, and ongoing military upgrades, including spending over 3% of GDP, F-35 jets, French frigates, and F-16 modernization.
Finally, he reaffirmed government support for the Greek diaspora and the €25 million budget increase for diplomatic initiatives.
