On behalf of the Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation Committee, I’m happy to announce that again this year, the 2025 School Competition is now open for all Schools in Victoria, where the Greek language is taught to students.
This is the 16th consecutive year the competition is held, and Students from year 1 to year 12 can participate.
The purpose of the Competition is for the Students to learn about the events and history in Greece during World War Two, and the reason why this beautiful Memorial was built.
It is also important that the servicemen and women who served and died in Greece must be remembered and not forgotten for their sacrifice in the Greek Campaign, World War Two.
Students can write a story of the War, write a poem, draw a picture of Soldiers, or an essay, anything that relates to the Greek Campaign and the ANZACs in Greece, 1940-41.
Cash prizes will be given to all winners.
Also, all Students who take part in the Competition will receive a badge of the Memorial and a certificate of Participation.
The Competition is supported by Maria Triantafyllou, Acting Coordinator of Educational Affairs, Australia & New Zealand, Melbourne Greek Consulate.
The Competition is now open and will close on 19 September.
Presentation to all winners will take place at the Australian Hellenic Memorial, Saturday 18 October, at 11.00am.
For any further information, please contact the Secretary Mr. Peter Andrianopoulos, on 0416 020 865.
Thank you again, and best regards.
On behalf of the Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation.
