Archbishop Makarios hosts official dinner for Australian ambassador to Greece

On Wednesday, 23 July, His Archbishop Makarios hosts official dinner for Australian ambassador to Greece, warmly welcomeing the Australian Ambassador, Ms Alison Duncan, to the Archbishop’s residence in Sydney.

His Eminence hosted a dinner in honour of the Australian diplomat, which was also attended by His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis; the Chancellor of the Holy Archdiocese, the Very Reverend Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Christoforos Krikelis; Archdeacon Athenagoras; and the Acting Dean of St Andrew’s Theological College, Dr Philip Kariatlis, accompanied by his wife.

In a warm and cordial atmosphere, matters of mutual interest were discussed, with particular emphasis on the enduring bonds of friendship between the peoples of Greece and Australia, as well as the vital role played by the vibrant Greek diaspora across the Australian continent.

Both Archbishop Makarios and Ambassador Duncan affirmed their commitment to the shared goal of strengthening and deepening relations between the two nations and expressed their willingness to work closely together in pursuit of that aim.

Finally, His Eminence thanked Ms Duncan for the honour of her visit and wished her continued success in her diplomatic service in Greece.
