Australia Cup 2024: South to face Macarthur for a spot in the final

17 September, 2024

The Australia Cup 2024 Semi Final match schedule has now been confirmed, with only four clubs remaining in the race to be crowned Australia Cup Winners and earn qualification into the 2025-26 AFC Champions League Two.

The tournament’s final four consists of one Member Federation representative and three Isuzu UTE A-League Men outfits, with Adelaide United FC, Macarthur FC, Melbourne Victory FC and South Melbourne FC (Football VIC) still in contention, with just one match standing between them and the Australia Cup 2024 Final.

The Semi Finals will begin with an all-Isuzu UTE A-League Men showdown with Melbourne Victory FC hosting interstate rivals, Adelaide United FC at AAMI Park, Melbourne on Saturday, 21 September (7.30pm AEST). Melbourne Victory FC will be looking to qualify for their first Australia Cup Final since 2021, having already won the modern iteration of the competition on two occasions (2016, 2021). Adelaide United FC, crowned Australia Cup Winners for a third time in 2019, have only failed to reach the deciding match after qualifying for the Semi Finals once in their history (2017).

South Melbourne FC will aim to become the second ever Member Federation side to reach the Australia Cup Final when they host Macarthur FC at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park on Sunday, 22 September (6:00pm AEST). A dramatic extra-time Quarter Final victory propelled the 2024 NPL Men’s Victoria Premiership and Dockerty Cup Champions into the Semi Finals, but they will face a stern test in Australia Cup 2022 Winner, Macarthur FC who have scored seven goals across their three Final Rounds’ matches.
