Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was a Turkish dictator and genocidal killer with the blood of millions on his hands.
Greek, Armenian, Assyrian, Chaldean Syriac Aramean, Maronite and other Christians were systematically eradicated.
He ensured the release of many perpetrators, threatened to execute British prisoners in retaliation, and fought a war in part to stop the creation of an independent Western Armenia, the killing of and ethnic cleansing of millions, his actions led to the Treaty of Lausanne which prevented future prosecution of genocide perpetrators, and once he became leader of Turkey, he oversaw the erasure of Armenian, Greek and other surnames and the names of countless towns and villages across the region.
He may not have planned it all, but he is responsible for Turkey’s denial, for the lack of accountability (and thus all Armenian and Greek resentment and hostility), for global indifference, and for the cesspool of misinformation Armenians and Greeks now have to combat.
Disney+, which started broadcasting in 2019, started to serve in Turkey last year. The service, which competes head-to-head with its competitors such as Netflix around the world, was received better than expected in our country. So much so that it gained millions of new subscribers
Disney+ made a sudden decision the other day and all original Turkish productions on the platform were removed. It was not known what would happen to the ongoing series and movies. The reason for this decision was not known precisely, but estimates were that Armenian communities threatened Disney+ for the Atatürk series.

In a Twitter post by The Armenian National Committee of America-ANCA, it was said that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk committed genocide by killing millions of people from 7 different ethnic groups under the Christian title. Considering the strong lobbying activities in the USA, threats were thought to be the reason for the removal of Turkish productions.
Today, Disney+ Turkey has officially announced that the Atatürk series will be broadcast on the 100th anniversary of the Republic, that is, on October 29, 2023, with the announcement made on its official Twitter account. It seems that the company did not heed the threats.
Although it is certain that the Atatürk series will be broadcast, the fate of other original Turkish productions removed from the platform is still uncertain. While the number of people canceling their subscriptions is constantly increasing in our country, a statement is expected from Disney+ Turkey.
