Europe’s century of humiliation: How the EU just gave the US everything & got nothing in return

1 August, 2025

If Europeans were truly paying attention — or more importantly, if they were being told the truth by their own media and political leadership — they would be nothing short of appalled by the so-called “deal” that has just been agreed. This is Europe’s century of humiliation: How the EU just gave the US everything & got nothing in return.

In reality, this isn’t a deal in any fair or mutual sense of the word. It amounts to one of the most expensive imperial tributes ever recorded in modern history: a staggering, one-way transfer of European wealth, industrial capacity, and geopolitical leverage to the United States — with absolutely no tangible return.

Here are the facts of what the EU has agreed to:

Tariff Surrender: The EU will now face 15% tariffs on its exports to the US, while committing to zero tariffs on American imports into Europe. This is not trade — this is economic submission.

$600 Billion Investment in the US: For no clearly articulated strategic reason, the EU has committed to pouring $600 billion of European capital into the American economy. There is no equivalent US investment in European infrastructure or industry. This is wealth extraction disguised as diplomacy.

Massive Arms Purchases: Europe has agreed to buy hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of US military equipment — much of it unnecessary, duplicative, or incompatible with existing European defence systems. This benefits US defence contractors, not European security.

US LNG for Triple the Price: The EU has committed to purchasing $750 billion worth of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) over the next three years — approximately $250 billion annually, despite the fact that US LNG is significantly more expensive than alternatives available from other global suppliers.

And what does the European Union receive in return for these colossal concessions?

Absolutely nothing.

No preferential treatment. No reciprocal trade agreements. No security guarantees. Not even symbolic gestures of parity. Just polite applause from Washington — and even that might be too generous.

This doesn’t resemble the behaviour of two sovereign and equal powers working in partnership. It more closely echoes the “unequal treaties” that colonial empires once imposed on conquered territories in the 19th century — except now, Europe is on the receiving end of the extractive arrangement.

What’s even more troubling is the precedent this sets. In geopolitics, weakness doesn’t inspire respect — it invites further pressure, more demands, and deeper dependency. If Europe concedes this much today without pushback or leverage, what do you think happens next?

History offers a clear answer: in the 19th century, colonial powers were never content with a single unequal treaty — they demanded more, took more, and embedded their control more deeply over time.

Unless there is a radical shift in political consciousness and leadership across Europe, this trajectory is not only unsustainable — it’s humiliating. We may well be witnessing Europe’s own “century of humiliation” unfolding in real time, not at the hands of an invading force, but through a wilful surrender of sovereignty by its own elite class.

It is not anti-American to demand fair terms. It is not anti-alliance to seek equality. But it is suicidal for Europe to continue down this path of economic servitude cloaked in transatlantic loyalty.

The time for delusion is over. Either Europe wakes up — or it fades into irrelevance as a vassal economy shackled to an empire that offers it nothing in return.
