The 43-year-old ex-wife of the murdered Polish professor has been remanded in custody after being accused of orchestrating his killing. She is alleged to be the mastermind behind the plot, despite her claims of innocence.
Four individuals are already behind bars in connection with the case, including the 35-year-old man who confessed to fatally shooting the professor. The woman, identified as the moral instigator, told the court she had no involvement and was unaware of her partner’s plans. “I’m innocent. I didn’t know he planned to kill the father of my children. He supported us financially,” she claimed.
However, the court was not convinced and ordered her detention.
Meanwhile, the confessed killer broke down during his testimony, expressing remorse: “I did it to protect my family. I feared he’d take the children to America and never return them. I just wanted to scare him.”
The three alleged accomplices also claimed ignorance of any murder plot. One said he was only asked to help intimidate the professor, while another described how he panicked when he saw the gun and fled.
Authorities continue investigating the roles of all involved in this complex and tragic case.
