The Mitsotakis government has made the fateful decision to withdraw elite amphibious commandos from the Greek islands and redeploy them to the Ukrainian border. Greek commandos, guardians of the Aegean, are now in Poland.
The demilitarization of the Greek islands, initiated by sending military equipment and vehicles to Ukraine, appears to be unabated with the deployment of Greek soldiers. According to “Demokratia,” Greece has sent a platoon of Z’ MAK elite commandos, who were previously guarding small islands in the northeastern Aegean, to join the NATO force in Elblag, Poland. This incredible decision diverts Greek commandos, defenders of the Aegean now deployed to Poland! from overseeing small islands that Turkey has been monitoring, such as Zourafa.
While Turkey continues to make assertions over the Aegean islands, Greece has decided to send its strongest elite amphibious Greek commandos, guardians of the Aegean, are now in Poland for a mission with uncertain benefits for the country. These 30 elite commandos, known for their offensive capabilities against enemy forces, are now stationed in Poland instead of defending the Aegean. The responsible ministry must explain why these critical units have been weakened, creating a security vacuum in an area they once patrolled.
The Z’ MAK The Ghost Unit, established after the Imia crisis and initially commanded by Mr. Floros, is tasked with the most dangerous missions. Yet, despite ongoing Turkish threats, a platoon of these commandos has been sent to Poland, presumably for a NATO exercise or operation. This decision, which weakens the defense of the northeastern Aegean islands, demands accountability from those responsible. What is the objective of this redeployment? We had previously written about the possible deployment of The Hellenic military, which has come to fruition.
And yet, we send these Greek commandos, guardians of the Aegean, are now in Poland presumably to participate in some NATO exercise or offensive (nobody knows). This is a very serious matter and the responsible ministry is called upon to explain why the two task forces it has, with three platoons each, on the Aegean islands have been weakened, with the result that there is now a security vacuum for our country at a point where this platoon was patrolling.
The Z’ MAK is the elite unit of amphibious commandos and was first formed after Imia. In fact, the first commander was Mr. Floros. It is also the unit that undertakes the most dangerous missions, and yet the “luminaries” decided to send the commandos of a platoon to… Poland, today when the Turk is lurking and threatening almost daily. Those who took this decision are responsible and accountable to the Greek people, in order to further weaken the islands of the north-eastern Aegean, which have already been almost demilitarised. What do they want to achieve?
