Greek Community Cup Women’s Tournament makes triumphant return

9 January, 2026

The Greek Community Cup Women’s Tournament makes a triumphant return in the summer of 2026, with registrations now open for clubs eager to take part in one of the fastest-growing women’s football events on the local sporting calendar.

Scheduled to run from 30 January to 15 February 2026, the tournament will once again be hosted at Northcote City FC, following the strong success of last year’s inaugural competition. The venue proved an ideal setting in 2025, offering high-quality facilities and a vibrant matchday atmosphere that helped elevate the profile of the women’s tournament.

Interest in the competition continues to build after an exciting debut season, highlighted by a closely contested final between Box Hill and Keon Park. Box Hill ultimately claimed the title with a 2–1 victory, capping off a tournament that showcased the depth of talent across participating clubs.

With growing momentum and positive feedback from teams, organisers anticipate an expanded field in 2026, further strengthening the tournament’s role in promoting women’s football within the community.

Tournament organiser Michael Karamitos said the success of the inaugural edition underlined the importance of continued investment in the women’s game.

“The response from clubs and players in 2025 made it clear that there is both the demand and the talent to support a strong women’s tournament,” Mr Karamitos said. “Our focus is on delivering a competitive, well-organised event that supports clubs and highlights the quality of women’s football across the community.”

Clubs are now invited to register teams and begin preparations for what is expected to be another competitive and engaging summer tournament.

The Greek Community Cup is presented by the Greek Community of Melbourne in association with Australian Football Skool and GCTV Incorporated. The 2026 women’s tournament will again be hosted by Northcote City FC, with the support of Nikos Cakes and the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
