Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg will be deported from Israel on Tuesday, along with 27 Greek activists, according to a report by Ynet.
The group was detained after attempting to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla.
The flight, funded by the Greek government, will depart from Ramon Airport in southern Israel and land in Athens. Greek authorities have coordinated the repatriation of their citizens who were arrested after the flotilla was intercepted by the Israeli Navy.
According to Israeli officials, over 470 activists from 42 vessels were detained, with 137 already deported. The remaining detainees are being held at Ketziot Prison, under what legal representatives describe as substandard conditions.
The legal aid organization Adalah reported that detainees have been denied medical care and are receiving insufficient food and water.
Reports indicate that Greta Thunberg has faced particularly harsh treatment, and she has not been allowed to meet with her lawyer since being placed in custody on Sunday afternoon.
