“Hello, Greece! What an incredible honor”: Kimberly Guilfoyle’s first message as new U.S. ambassador

2 November, 2025

Kimberly Guilfoyle has officially arrived in Athens to begin her tenure as the new United States Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic, marking her first day in the post with a warm bilingual message on social media.

Writing partly in Greek, Guilfoyle opened her first public statement with the words:
“Γεια σας, Ελλάδα! Hello, Greece! What an incredible honor to arrive today in Athens — my first day as U.S. Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic. The United States and Greece share an unbreakable bond. Together, we will strengthen this alliance and elevate our cooperation to new heights.”

The message, posted on X (formerly Twitter), was her first official communication since landing in Greece on Saturday, November 1.

Later that evening, Guilfoyle hosted a private reception at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Athens, attended by senior officials from the U.S. Embassy, members of the diplomatic community, and prominent figures from Greece’s public life. The event marked the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Marine Corps, an occasion deeply symbolic for the American diplomatic mission.

Her first official duty as ambassador is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, when she will present her credentials to the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, during a formal ceremony at the Presidential Mansion.

Following the presentation, Ambassador Guilfoyle will participate in the Transatlantic Energy Forum, a high-level conference taking place in Athens and attended by U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright, U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and 24 European Energy Ministers.

Guilfoyle’s appointment signals a renewed emphasis on strengthening U.S.–Greece relations in areas of defense, energy, and strategic cooperation — partnerships that both nations describe as “unshakable pillars of transatlantic unity.”
