One person has been hospitalised after a home was destroyed during an apparent landslide in Victoria today.
Emergency services were called to an address on View Point Road in McCrae in the Mornington Peninsula about 8.45am today following reports of a landslide.
Victoria SES crew are now on the scene after the home slid down a steep hill and collapsed in the coastal suburb.
Aerial shots show the home in McCrae significantly damaged following the incident.
Paramedics treated one person at the scene and have since been taken to Frankston Hospital where they remain in a stable condition. Crews are now working to make the scene safe.
At least 11 houses being evacuated in Mornington Peninsula
Around 11 houses are being evacuated after a the landslide in the Mornington Peninsula.
Mark Daw from the SES is speaking to the media now about the incident which has seen one house slide down a cliff:
“We have started to evacuate all the houses around them… in an exclusion zone.“
Daw said experts are currently assessing potential for further collapse but are unsure at the moment.
Daw said he didn’t have a precise figure of how many houses had bee evacuated but estimated “roughly around 11, 12 houses to be evacuated.”
