Olympiacos in the top four of the Euroleague, two Greek teams in the German capital

9 May, 2024

An exciting game took place in Catalonia, where Olympiacos faced Barcelona in Game 5 of the Euroleague playoffs and secured a place in the Final 4 in Berlin with a 59-63 victory.

The “reds” showed character at the “Palau Blaugrana” and with Shaquille McKeishik as the decisive player, they reached the victory, which also gives them the “ticket” to the top four teams of the competition, in which Panathinaikos is already in.

Twelve years after the Istanbul Final-4 (2012) and 15 years after Berlin (2009), Greek basketball will be represented again with two Greek teams in the final stage.

Armed with defense and concentration at crucial points, the players of Giorgos Bartzokas won 3-2 in the amazing series against the Catalans and are now preparing for Real Madrid, which they will face in the semi-final (24/5) in Berlin, aiming to win their fourth European title (1997, 2012, 2013 the previous three).

True to its appointment with the Euroleague Final-4 for the third consecutive year (Belgrade 2022, Kaunas 2023), Olympiacos will play in the final phase of the competition for the 13th time in total.

Barcelona missed the opportunity to qualify for the 4th consecutive Final-4 and the 18th overall in its history and is left with two titles (2003, 2010), 7 finals and 10 minor finals.
