Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, condemned Israel’s recent attack in Doha, saying it destroyed all hope for hostages remaining in Gaza. He warned that Qatar would respond in coordination with regional partners.
Speaking to CNN, Al Thani said he could not predict Hamas’ response to recent US ceasefire proposals if Israel had not attacked Doha. “I met one of the hostage families the morning of the attack. They were relying on this mediation. They have no other hope. What Netanyahu did yesterday was to kill every hope for the hostages,” Al Thani stated.
The Qatari leader stressed that a “collective response” from the region is expected, with an upcoming Arab-Islamic summit in Doha to determine the reaction. “We hope for something substantial that will prevent Israel from continuing this intimidation,” he added.
Al Thani also declared that Netanyahu “must be brought to justice” for actions in Gaza, describing recent negotiations as “pointless” and accusing the Israeli prime minister of wasting time.
He emphasized that Qatar’s mediation with Hamas was fully transparent to Israeli and American authorities and does not constitute harboring terrorism. The fate of Hamas’ chief negotiator, Khalil Al-Haya, remains unknown following the attack.
Tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, with Qatar pushing for a coordinated response to protect hostages and prevent further violations of international law.
