South Melbourne FC and coach Con Tangalakis will be going separate ways

3 April, 2019

South Melbourne FC and Senior Coach Con Tangalakis will be going separate ways. According to the Club, Con Tangalakis offered his resignation, which was accepted.

However, according to other sources the Board of the Club wasn’t very happy with the team’s results in this year’s NPL.

Speaking to smfc.com.au, Senior Football Manager Peter Kokotis said “Con is a dedicated coach and football manager with a distinctive personal style both on and off the pitch. I am grateful for the role he played since joining the club in June last year and seeing us through to the end of that season.

We thank him for his support and wish him all the very best moving forward. As a lifelong supporter, we know Con cares deeply about South Melbourne.”

The Club has appointed Senior Assistant Coach Estaban Quintas as caretaker coach for the remainder of the 2019 NPL Victoria season.

Quintas will take charge of the senior squad effective immediately to prepare for Friday night’s derby against the Melbourne Knights at Knights Stadium.
