The Hellenic Writers’ Association of Australia (S.E.L.S.A.) has revealed the winners of its 2025 Student Literary Competition, Student writers awarded in Hellenic Literary Competition 2025, celebrating exceptional creative writing by Greek language students from across Melbourne.

This annual contest aims to inspire young writers to express their imagination and cultural heritage through storytelling in Greek. This year’s submissions showcased a rich array of themes, exploring family life, migration, and Greek traditions in the Antipodes.

After a thorough evaluation by a panel of educators, the winners were announced as follows:

  • Primary School: “Antipodes” – Petra Drongiti, Grade 3, Coburg West Primary School
  • Middle School: “The Celebration” – Alexandra Barbagianni (13), Maria Voudouris (13) & Angeliki Konstas (12), Sts Anargiri Greek Language Centre
  • High School: “Customs and Traditions in the Antipodes” – Irini Katsoulis (17), Year 11, Sts Anargiri Greek Language Centre

Each winner will receive a $100 prize (to be shared among group entries) and a commemorative certificate recognising their creative accomplishment.

The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, 9 November 2025 at 3:00 pm, during the official presentation of O LOGOS magazine, at the Hellenic Community of Melbourne, mezzanine floor, 168 Lonsdale Street.

S.E.L.S.A. extended heartfelt congratulations to all participating students and expressed gratitude to the teachers who encouraged and guided their creative journeys—continuing the proud legacy of Greek literary expression in Australia.
