Taekwondo: Aristeidis Psarros crowned world champion in the youth category

Aristeidis Nikolaos Psarros achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the gold medal in the -51 kg category at the World Taekwondo Championships for Youths held in Janchon, South Korea.

Psarros has become the fourth Greek athlete to ascend to the top of the podium in the history of this prestigious event, joining the ranks of ALEXANDROS NIKOLAIDIS, CHARALAMBOS PANAGIOTIDIS, and NIKOLAOS PAPAGGELIS.

The young champion, who had previously amassed significant accomplishments at the European level, demonstrated his skills by securing impressive victories, with the highlight being his triumph over South Korean athlete Seo in the Round of 32. In the final match, Psarros easily defeated the Moldovan Rosca with a score of 2-0, capping off an impressive championship run.

Moreover, Melina Georgiou also showcased her talent in the -46 kg category for girls, coming close to medal contention. Georgiou achieved two victories before facing defeat against the South Korean Yumie Lee, who ultimately captured the gold medal.
