The 3XY RADIO HELLAS RADIOTHON FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE ATTIKA FIRES, THE COMPLETE STORY

The fires which took place in Mati, Attica Greece, on the 23rd of July, destroyed a beautiful part of Greece – bringing grief, heartache and devastation to so many people. The effects of this tragedy, reached many across the Globe, as well as here in Melbourne, Australia – we, as Greek Australians, felt compelled to extend a helping hand. What followed was months of planning, demanding time frames and, recently, a very emotional trip to Greece to deliver the best possible outcome.

Από τη στιγμή που ξέσπασαν οι πυρκαγιές στο Μάτι, στις 23 Ιουλίου, και κατέστρεψαν ένα όμορφο μέρος της Αττικής προκαλώντας θλίψη, πόνο και κατα- στροφή σε τόσο πολλούς ανθρώπους, πέρασα μερικούς πολύ απαιτητικούς, αγχωτικούς και συναισθηματικά φορτισμένους μήνες. Τα εκατοντάδες τηλεφωνήματα των ακροατών μας, ζητώντας απεγνωσμένα να βοηθήσουμε τα θύματα της βιβλικής αυτής καταστροφής μας οδήγησαν στην απόφαση να ξεκινήσουμε άμεσα τον ραδιοέρανό μας.
