The Hellenic Museum of Melbourne thanks the Minister of Culture of Greece

5 September, 2025

Last week, Mr. Harry Stamoulis, Chairperson of the Hellenic Museum of Melbourne, accompanied by Mr. Spiros Alatsas, General Manager of Greek Media Group and member of the Advisory Committee, visited the Ministry of Culture of the Hellenic Republic.

They met with Minister Lina Mendoni to express their gratitude for her collaboration in bringing the Museum’s latest exhibition, “Rituals: Gifts for the Gods”, to Melbourne.

During the meeting, several new ideas were discussed regarding future exhibitions and programs aimed at further promoting Hellenic culture and values in Australia. Minister Mendoni expressed her great pleasure in facilitating this collaboration and voiced her enthusiasm for continuing this important partnership, further strengthening the ties between Greece and Australia.

Sarah Craig, CEO of the Hellenic Museum, noted her delight that Chairperson Harry Stamoulis and Spiro Alatsas were able to personally visit the Ministry and present a commemorative plaque to the Minister, recognising and celebrating this valuable cultural relationship.

The exhibition “Rituals: Gifts for the Gods”, which opened on 30 May, 2025, has already been hailed as a “landmark international exhibition” and a “global exclusive.” Visitors have the opportunity to explore ancient Greek rituals and connect with the divine through 119 exquisite artifacts sourced from Greece’s most esteemed museums, including the Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum. The exhibition features digital reconstructions and interactive experiences, and is open daily, with free admission for visitors under 18.

The exhibition’s success highlights the Hellenic Museum of Melbourne’s ongoing commitment to bringing Greek cultural heritage to a global audience while fostering the appreciation of Hellenic traditions and ideals in Australia. It also underscores the importance of international cultural collaboration and the strengthening of the longstanding friendship between Greece and Australia.
