The resignation of Greece’s foreign Minister Gerapetritis is being demanded in Cyprus

Outraged with his statements of ” generosity” that shows national inferiority have resulted in calls for the resignation of Greece’s foreign Minister Gerapetritis is being demanded in Cyprus!

There have been many adverse reactions mainly- behind the scenes, due to the recent statements of George Gerapetritis who claimed last Thursday on SKAI that “the immobility and inaction on the Cyprus problem, the lack of political generosity has unfortunately led Turkey to more extreme positions”.

After the renowned Professor Ioannis Mazis, who lambasted the Greek Foreign Minister for this statement, the experienced political analyst, lawyer, journalist, and doctor of international relations and European studies, Yiannos Charalambidis, took his turn.

Yiannos Charalambidis: Speaking to Cyprus’ Sigmalive, the respected analyst launched a barrage of accusations against Mr.Gerapetritis, while he also conveyed information from the Cypriot Government, which he said “is not open to question”, that there is a great deal of annoyance in Nicosia over the Greek Foreign Minister’s statements about “lack of political bravery”.

In fact, he commented that a bold move on the part of Nikos Christodoulides would be to call for the immediate resignation of Mr. Gerapetritis for “insulting the Greeks of Cyprus and himself”!

“How does the President of the Republic of Cyprus accept to be publicly insulted by the Foreign Minister of Greece?” asked the experienced analyst, who put on the table the scenarios for the progress of the Cyprus issue, which are not only not favourable, with the condescending policy of bowing to Turkey currently followed by the foreign Minister of Greece George Gerapetritis and prime ministers office (Maximou).

It is noted that the Greek Foreign Minister underlined that the inaction and inertia on the Cyprus problem, and the lack of political courage have led to the more extreme positions of Turkey, which advocates for a two-state solution and sovereign equality which is not acceptable to the Greek and Greek Cypriot side. “Such a solution is not acceptable. It is not acceptable, not only because it is not within our intentions, but mainly because it is outside the framework of international law, which is stipulated by resolutions on Cyprus. So we are not discussing such a thing,” he said.

“We are discussing the solution which is within the framework. We are discussing a solution which will give a new breath of life to the Cyprus negotiations. The elements of the past, Crans Montana conference, where possible, will be used, but new elements will be added, hopefully, which will give a greater impetus,” the Greek Foreign Minister stressed.

Charalambides did not hide his displeasure for both the Greek Minister and the President of the Republic of Cyprus. “If Gerapetritis, who publicly bowed to Erdogan, wants to make supposedly courageous decisions to give up Piraeus where he grew up under Turkish administration! We will give neither Piraeus nor Kyrenia! Didn’t the President of Cyprus say he wants freedom? So messed up as he did. let him now take the bold decisions to defend the Republic of Cyprus call for liberation and the complete withdrawal of Turkish troops from Cyprus! Otherwise he will become the President of a Cyprian nation of partition. Garpertritis has humiliated the president of Cyprus and Cyprus” he said.
