Turkey alarmed by Netanyahu’s four-front strategy via Greece

“Turkey alarmed by Netanyahu’s four-front strategy via Greece” is how Turkish media are framing Israel’s latest regional moves, portraying them as a coordinated effort to curb Ankara’s influence across multiple theatres — from Somaliland and Syria to the Eastern Mediterranean — with cooperation with Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration seen as a key mechanism for blocking President Erdoğan’s strategic ambitions.

According to the report, Israel is acting to “break” Turkish lines of influence on four separate fronts. The first is Somaliland. Israel’s recent recognition of Somaliland is presented as a direct blow to Turkey’s presence in Somalia, where Ankara has built a substantial military role through the training of local forces and maritime security agreements.

The second front is the Eastern Mediterranean. Cooperation with Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration is described as an effort to strengthen an axis that politically and energetically constrains Turkey, while also undermining prospects for de-escalation in Greek–Turkish relations.

The third axis is Syria. The analysis suggests that following the change of power in Damascus, Turkey and Israel are now measuring their strength in shaping the post-war landscape, with Israel seeking a more unstable regional environment that limits Turkey’s room for manoeuvre.

The fourth pillar is the United States. The return of Donald Trump and renewed discussions about supplying F-35 fighter jets to Turkey are viewed as developments Israel regards unfavourably, and which are therefore seen as part of the same broader framework of pressure.
