The Greek “Lord of the Rings” Lefteris Petrounias in Melbourne

19 February, 2020

The Greek
“Lord of the Rings” artistic gymnast Lefteris Petrounias
is in Melbourne to take part in the Gymnastics World Cup
(20-23 February)
at the Melbourne Arena.
Petrounias was Rio Olympics champion in 2016 and world champion om 2015, 2017 and 2018.
However, the pressure is on him to win in Melbourne after he came fourth in the Cottbus Apparatus World Cup this month.
This is a do-or-die scenario for the gymnast, as he must win here and in the corresponding tournaments in Baku and Doha if he is to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics in July.
Petrounias is confident of his chances, which will no doubt be boosted by the support of Melbourne’s Greeks.
