The Holy Archdiocese of Australia wishes to inform its faithful and the wider public about the existence of a fake profile on the social networking platform Facebook, under the name “Eminence Archbishop Makarios” (www.facebook.com/eminencearchbishopmakarios). This profile has unlawfully posted photos of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, taken from the internet, with the apparent intention of misleading other users, with unknown motives and further objectives.
We categorically emphasize that His Eminence our Shepherd does not have any account (profile or page) on Facebook. His sole presence on social media is through the following Instagram profile: www.instagram.com/archbishop_makarios.
Therefore, we urge the faithful of our Holy Archdiocese, and all other Facebook users, to ignore this fake profile and refrain from any interaction with it, especially from providing any personal information.
At the same time, we inform you that we have taken the necessary steps to have this fake profile removed.
