The 2nd Greek Youth Diaspora Symposium, a key initiative for strengthening ties between Greece and young Greeks around the world, will take place in Athens from 25 to 28 November 2025 at the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Centre.
Organized by the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, the event aims to create a sustainable global network of cooperation among members of the Greek Diaspora aged 18–25.
According to the announcement from the Consulate General of Greece in Melbourne, this year’s Symposium is titled “Diaspora Dialogues: Connecting the Voices of Young Greeks Worldwide” and will welcome participants from 30 different countries. Its purpose is “to encourage the exchange of ideas on culture, education, innovation, and other contemporary topics of shared interest.”
The Symposium will be officially opened on 25 November at 2:00 p.m. by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Gerapetritis, who is expected to highlight the importance of active engagement by young members of the diaspora. As the Ministry notes, “strengthening the connection between young Greeks abroad and the homeland is a strategic priority for preserving cultural identity and continuity.”
The program will also feature the Greek Youth Diaspora Ambassadors, participants from the inaugural Symposium in 2024, who will present their initiatives promoting Hellenism and will be formally recognized for their achievements. This year’s panelists will, in turn, be appointed as the next Ambassadors, taking on new actions to represent Greek culture globally.
The event’s thematic panels will address topics such as cultural identity, Greek language and arts, education, AI and innovation, sustainable development and the environment, volunteerism, sports, and the broader role of youth in building social cohesion.
All sessions will be live-streamed and accessible following registration on the official website.
