Greek men and women Water Polo teams advance to quarter-finals in South Korea

Greece’s men’s national water polo team advanced to the quarter-finals in the 2019 World Aquatics Championships held in South Korea after beating the U.S. team 11-9.
The Greek team was in top form in Gwangju, working hard against a tough opponent, but they finally snatched the victory in the last period.
The score in the four periods was: 3-4, 6-6, 8-8, 11-9.

After the U.S., Greece has to beat Italy today to make it to the semi-finals Greek women’s team also among the world’s eight best.
A day earlier, the Greek women’s water polo team beat China 12-8 and advanced to the semi-finals as well in the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. Defense was the big weapon of the Greek squad, keeping the Chinese players away from their net.

The score in the four periods was: 4-1, 2-2, 4-4, 2-1.
