Metropolitan Myron of New Zealand visits the Hellenic Museum and Greek Media Group

12 February, 2020

Metropolitan Myron of New Zealand
expressed his great joy to visit the Hellenic Museum in Melbourne on Friday 7th February.

Metropolitan Myron said: “From the moment we arrived I was impressed with the beauty of the building itself. The quality of the Museum and the care that the Stamoulis family have taken to develop the Museum is worthy of recognition.

The museums collections from the Ancient periods including the beautiful gold laurel crown and the solid golden goblet to the Byzantine collection with its Icons and Reliquaries to the modern interpretations through photography where all noteworthy and beautiful.
We were all very grateful to see the focus that has been placed on the Ecclesiastical collection both in the main display, in the vault and on the second floor. May God bless you all always for honouring the Church and her History. We believe that this is a collection that all Greeks in Australia should find the time to visit and moreover a collection that allows non Greeks to experience our diverse and ancient culture first hand. Again we congratulate the Stamouli’s family for their incredible commitment to Greek Culture in Australia, and for the quality of the Museum and its collection. We would like to thank Mrs Eleni Stamoulis and Mr Ross Alatsas for their  kind and generous hospitality, for taking the time out of their busy schedule to give us a personal tour of the museum.
We further thank all staff and presenters, for the opportunity to share with your listeners on radio 3XY Radio Hellas a little about the Metropolis of New Zealand and the Apostolic Mission to the Pacific Islands Fiji Tonga and Samoa, we thank you for your support in the past and we pray that God enables us all to meet again either here in Melbourne or perhaps in the Islands to continue our relationship for the Glory of God and the Church.”

Mr Alatsas in turn and on behalf of the Stamoulis family, expressed his pleasure in welcoming Metropolitan Myron to the Hellenic Museum and Greek Media Group facilities and wished him all the very best for his future.
