Patrick Kisnorbo has led City this year to their first premiership and first championship in his first year at the helm, but played down his achievement.
He has coached the women’s team and has been as well as the head coach of the men’s first team.
In 2020 he was appointed manager of Melbourne City and took that step up in the best way possible. This season he leaded his club to their first ever Championship, and was voted A-League coach of the year .
Kisnorbo’s City won 15 games this season, drew four and lost seven, with a winning percentage of 54%, two points better than Steve Corica’s second-placed Sydney FC.
“It was amazing . We have been working so hard and it paid off …’’ he told 3XY. Kisnorbo has already started making his plans for next season. We have to start already preparing for next year. Because it’s no point just trying to do things once – look at Sydney, they’ve had continued success. We want to do that.”
He started his career as a youngster at South Melbourne, before moving to England, where he played with Leicester City. He advises the young players to be patient.
“It’s not just any young player that’s able to walk into this club and into the team. They need to be patient, they need to learn and listen. They’ve had to learn the reality of what professional football is, it’s not just ‘I’ve come to a club and I’ll play’. Kisnorbo said.“
