“This is it.” Kerr said. “Everything we’ve been working for. The early mornings, late nights and sacrifices have all led to this, a World Cup in Australia.”

“The Women’s World Cup to me is the pinnacle of our sport, and the pinnacle of my dreams too. It would mean everything to host a FIFA Women’s World Cup on home soil.”

The FIFA Women’s World Cup is the ultimate competition in women’s football and is held every four years. The most recent tournament in Canada in 2015, saw a total match attendance of 1.35 million and a global television audience of 764 million.

Records are expected to be broken when the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ kicks off in just 17 days’ time, and FFA Chief Executive David Gallop AM said the time is right for Australia to host the tournament on home soil in 2023.“This is an opportunity we want the entire country to get onside for.
