Once again, the Carnival of the Greek Community of Moorabbin and its surroundings was a resounding success, thanks to the cooperation of favorable weather and the eager participation of residents seeking to unwind and enjoy a cherished tradition that has endured for three decades.

Held last Sunday, February 18th, the 27th carnival was celebrated with great enthusiasm.

The event occurred at the community’s private venue at 57 Madden Road Heatherton, offering a serene setting and a warm atmosphere for the hundreds of expatriates who attended.

The carnival featured captivating performances by various dance groups, including the School of Traditional Dance and Culture of Demosthenes Manasses, the Cretan Brotherhood, the Pancretan Union, and the Pegasus Dance Academy of Sotiris Sotiriou. A special highlight was the participation of the dance group from the Union of Filipino Seniors, adding diversity to the festivities.

Providing entertainment throughout the day was the experienced DJ Joe Pappas, ensuring a lively atmosphere for all attendees.

During his address, Community President Mr. Tryphon Yantsidis thanked the Board of Directors and the talented dance groups for their contributions to the event. Additionally, member of the Upper House of Parliament, Lee Tarlamis member of the South Eastern Metropolitan Region for the Labor Party in the Victorian Legislative Council, commended the Community’s efforts and expressed pride in his Greek heritage and the rich cultural traditions shared with fellow Australians.

Attendees enjoyed various food, coffee, ice cream, and refreshments, while children delighted in activities such as the Jumping Castle and face painting.

Once again, the Carnival of the Greek Community of Moorabbin was made possible through the support of sponsors, including the City of Kingston, the Suburban Rail Loop East Community Projects Fund, and the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
