“The Hellenic Initiative Australia” celebrates 10 years of valuable contribution

19 March, 2024

On Monday 18 March, Melbourne’s ANZ Centre hosted an anniversary event for The Hellenic Initiative Australia (THI Australia), celebrating 10 years of service. The event was an opportunity to highlight the achievements and efforts made by the organisation over its 10-year history.

Through a series of speeches, attendees had the opportunity to learn about the work THI Australia has accomplished over the years. The speeches of the representatives of the organisation, including the President Nicholas G Pappas, the CEO Stergitsa Zamagias-Hill, as well as the well-known Greek-Australian businessman, Mr. Andrew N Liveris, the main achievements and the ambitions of the organisation for the future were presented.

THI Australia’s core vision is to support a strong, sustainable and secure Greece, to unite the Greek Diaspora and to promote Greek ideals. Through social, health, education and employment support programs, this organisation has created a significant impact and changed lives in Greece.

From 2014 to 2024, THI Australia has provided almost $3 million in grants and support, providing life-changing opportunities to vulnerable communities in Greece.

Looking ahead, the organisation will focus on cementing its relationships with the Greek diaspora and the philhellenic community, while expanding its impact through knowledge sharing and collaboration.

It is worth noting that THI Australia’s management is made up of volunteer directors from across Australia, who operate with integrity and accountability, ensuring that all funds are properly directed and monitored.

As we enter the next decade, THI Australia will continue to build on its strong foundations, seeking to expand its impact and promote greater unity and solidarity within the wider Greek community, for the benefit of Greece and its people.
