Trump issues ultimatum to Hamas: “Accept the deal or face the consequences”

8 September, 2025

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a “final warning” to Hamas on Sunday night, urging the group to accept a proposed deal that would secure the release of all hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared: “The Israelis have accepted my terms. It’s time for Hamas to do the same.” He further cautioned: “I warned Hamas about the consequences of refusal. This is the final warning – there will be no other.”

The statement comes at a critical moment, as negotiations remain deadlocked and international pressure mounts to prevent further bloodshed in the region.

Earlier in the evening, Trump appeared at the US Open men’s final in New York, where his arrival drew mixed reactions from the crowd – some cheers, but also loud boos. The start of the match was delayed by 30 minutes due to heightened security measures around the venue.

The White House has described Trump’s push as part of his ambition for a “historic Middle East deal,” though observers remain skeptical, citing Hamas’ continued defiance and the volatile situation on the ground.
