Tsitsipas delivers under pressure as Greece force United Cup decider, with Stefanos Tsitsipas producing one of his most assured performances in recent months to haul Greece back into its United Cup quarter-final against the United States, defeating Taylor Fritz in straight sets and pushing the tie to a decisive mixed doubles encounter in Perth.

With Greece trailing after the opening singles rubber, Tsitsipas responded with authority, overcoming the world No. 9 6–4, 7–5 in a match defined by serving accuracy and composure in the pivotal moments. The victory levelled the contest after Coco Gauff had earlier handed the Americans the advantage against Maria Sakkari.

Tsitsipas dominated proceedings behind his first serve, repeatedly denying Fritz any sustained foothold on return. The Greek maintained control throughout the opening set and showed resilience late in the second, escaping danger when facing a set point before turning the match decisively in his favour with a timely break.

The result marked Tsitsipas’ first win over a top-10 opponent in more than a year and reinforced his reputation as a reliable performer in team competition, where his singles record at the United Cup now stands among the strongest in the tournament.

Greece will now seek to complete the comeback in the mixed doubles, with Tsitsipas and Sakkari set to face Gauff and Christian Harrison for a place in the semi-finals of the United Cup.

Earlier at RAC Arena, Gauff had laid the platform for the United States with a commanding 6–3, 6–2 victory over Sakkari, applying relentless pressure from the baseline to give her side the early lead.
