USA: Government considering minting coin featuring Donald Trump

4 October, 2025

The U.S. government is reportedly considering the possibility of minting commemorative coins bearing the image of Donald Trump.

The initiative is linked to the upcoming celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026.

According to draft designs posted on the social media platform X and later reshared by the Treasury Department, the one-dollar coin could feature Trump’s profile alongside the inscription “LIBERTY” in capital letters. On the reverse side, he is depicted with his fist raised before an American flag, accompanied by the phrase “Fight, fight, fight.”

Those were the exact words Trump used in July 2024, after surviving an assassination attempt during his presidential campaign.

When contacted by AFP, the U.S. Treasury Department declined to comment.

Brandon Beech, the official in charge of the U.S. Mint, stated on X that more details about the coin would be released once the current government shutdown is resolved.

The United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its independence, declared in 1776, on July 4, 2026.
